The Boya fruit is an edible stone fruit produced by a tropical tree in the southeastern portion of [[Jressar]]. It has been cultivated since the arrival of the [[first settlers]] on Jressar during the [[Age of Knowledge]]. This culture has led to the emergence of three modern lineages : the "Daeli", the "Ovgenian" and the "Nirim" types. Depending on the cultivar, boya fruit varies in size, shape, sweetness, skin color and flesh color, which may be pale purple, red, crimson or blue. Some variety of boya fruit also have a different reaction to [[Momentstorm|momentstorms]], leading to massive differences in appearance and taste depending on the harvest time.
Boya fruit is the national fruit of [[Dael Orros]] and the [[Boya Festival]] is celebrated every year during the last month of [[Aspectdom Calendar|Excess]] in the country.
# Culinary uses
Boya fruit are generally sweet, although the taste and texture of the flesh varies across cultivars.
The skin of unripe, pickled or cooked boya fruit can be eaten, but only in its Moment-free form, othervise it is sparkled with side shoots with a very thick skin making it hard to consume.
Boya fruits are used in many cuisines across [[Erathia]] and have become, since their spread beyond Jressar, one of the most favoured fruits in Ovgenian and Oshan societies.
While there are many uses to the boya fruits, one of the most popular is the fermented boya, which has the benefit of having an extended shelf life, and can be combined with many dishes or as a central part of many recipes. It's sometimes mixed with [[tribweed]] seeds, [[hulu pepper]] powder, sald and oil to make the infamous *Naavapayan boya pickle* preferred by Queen [[Beveril VI]], which made the fruit popular in the [[Aspectdom of Ovgena]] during her reign.
The tender flesh of the boya fruit can also be mixed with buttered skahn milk and some sweetener into a [[Jussi]], which are commonly consumed during festivals and local festivities in [[Dael Orros]], and have become more common in central Erathia thoughout recent decades.
