The Moment, also called the **Energy of Change**, is a form of energy that can be found in several states on [[Erathia]]. Its unpredictable nature makes it an environmental hazard in the areas it accumulates in. Its origin is yet to be clearly identified, and each culture has its own spin on it. What we know for a fact, is the increased ability from the [[Amphicti League]] to identify [[Moment Crystals]] deposits around the planet and exploit them. This turn of events has led to a vast democratisation of the Moment as a source of energy for cities having dealings with the league and its allies. Over-radiation, caused by extended exposure to the Moment, is of violent consequence, which is why travel across [[Moment Zone|Moment zones]] is strictly controlled, and only specific professions are cleared for any more than 5 days of Moment travel per month. The exact effects of the Moment on the [[Erathi]] varies in intensity, witnesses and reports describing tremors so violent that the victim seems blurry, to the spontaneous generation of additional members, or the apparition of painless cavities in the body. To the best of our understanding and of the available observations, this depends mostly on the exposure time to the Moment, even though some researchers are crediting those variations to different intensity of the Moment load in a specific area and time. It's crucial for us to note that the effects on the [[Fauna and Flora|fauna and flora]] of Erathia are wildly different. This difference of reaction is unclear to the broader scientific community. Some plants have adapted to the ebb and flow of the momentstorms, varying between a dormant and an active state depending on the Moment load they carry in them. Identical adaptations are well-documented in the fauna, with creatures like the [[Adass]], the [[Monkech]] or the [[Le'isgro]] showcasing different morphology and behaviours during periods of [[High Moment|High]] or [[Low Moment|Low]] Moment. As far as we know for now, Moment can be found in different states, and in different circumstances: - [[Momentstorm|Momentstorms]] are sweeping the planet at a regular rhythm, carrying with them a high quantity of Moment that is delivered to the environment as it is making progress. - [[Moment Zone|Moment zones]] are locations with an important Moment load that has accumulated without being absorbed by its environment. They have been observed to shrink and grow after momentstorms, changing their boundaries based on conditions yet to be identified. - [[Moment Crystals]] deposits are scattered around the planet, and can be harvested through an extensive and precarious process. These crystals, or gemstones, serve as a conduit for energy, enabling the creation of advanced devices that harness this power.
